2016 - children's defense fund (CDF) "beat the odds" program
The Columbus Chapter of Jack and Jill supported the 2016-2017 Children's Defense Fund-Ohio Beat the Odds® scholarship program. This program honors outstanding high school students who have overcome tremendous adversity, demonstrated academic excellence and given back to their communities. Annually, CDF-Ohio identifies five Ohio high school students to honor and support by providing each with a $5,000 college scholarship, a laptop computer, an invitation to join CDF’s youth leadership development programs, and other support. 2015 - Boys & Girls Club of Columbus - ACT Prep Classes
In partnership with the the Boys & Girls Clubs of Columbus, the Columbus chapter of Jack and Jill provided ACT preparation classes for Boys & Girls Club teenagers. In January 2015, dozens of Club teens braved cold and snowy temperatures to meet each Saturday for math and reading drills conducted by Dr. Ihab Ismail, an experienced ACT tutor. The teens took the ACT in February. We are so proud of participating teens for their hard work and dedication!
